Discovering New Music

Isn't discovering new music one of life's greatest pleasures? I've always thought so, and on that note I thought I would share with you a playlist composed of completely new songs to me, that I've been listening to while cowering under several blankets this weekend (yes, several).

In other news in my life, I am seeing Frank Turner again this weekend (hyped) and I've also applied to go on year abroad next year! Originally I wasn't planning on applying as I just didn't think it was going to be for me, and I've seen people that definitely didn't seem to enjoy theirs, so I was a bit wary. However after several of my housemates going on about it quite often I've reconsidered and I'm gonna be applying, although it's still not a guarantee whether I will go or not. I'm definitely currently excited about the prospect, as I think it will really push me out of my comfort zone, something I'm not quite that good at of recent times.

Thanks for reading, and hopefully I'll be back with some outfit posts (I really want to do some, just need to figure out logistics of taking photos!) and some make up talks too!

Hope you like the music too!

I'm Not Gone, I Promise!

Hey everyone!
I'm not gone, this blog is still a thing that I very much want to be a part of, and I really enjoy adding to this and rambling on about my life. However, as I've been somewhat ridiculously busy over these past few months it's been pretty hard to find the time/the effort in myself to want to keep posting on here.
Let me tell you a few things that I've been up to:
1. I was working 5 days a week at George, which was super cool because clothes and also because they've offered me a sesdonal position so I can go back in the Winter when I return home.

2. I went to Reading Festival again! That's right, for my 4th time in a row... It was amazing, as per, and I saw some great bands and although I feel like that may have been my last time attending, I'm so glad that I'm lucky enough to be able to go to festivals like this with my friends while I can.

3. I then moved back into London!! Yaaaay! I now live in Islington which means I do have a bit of a walk to uni every day (nikes are saving my feet) but it's a super lovely house and we have a garden! Which is pretty cool considering we live in the centre of London. Potentially going to do a room tour at some point once I've properly settled in and bought some more organising things for my room as it's a bit bare and also quite a lot more personal (only just put a load of photos on the wall and now it just feels so so much nicer!)

4.  I'm obviously now in my second year at uni, which apparently means I suddenly have loads of deadlines all over the place and I'm actually having a maths module at the moment which is completely insane as I've not officially really learnt any maths for about 4 years! Saying that, I am finding it really useful... Just pretty difficult to get my head around after such a gap in learning.

And lastly, I turned 20! Which is a truly horrifying thought but also one that hasn't really phased me all that much? Age has never been something I've really worried about, as I'm basically still a 15 year old emo at heart.

Again, I'm so very silly to not have been posting as I've bought some absolutely lovely clothes (whoops) since being back at uni and I really want to share more posts about everything really.
Please stay tuned, there will be more posts soon!

Loving Where You Live

WARNING: RAMBLE POST

This is a bit of an odd post for me, as the topic is something I've only really come to think about in the last year, mostly as I haven't been able to do it. What I'm talking about is realising how great the place where you live is, and realising that although you may not have everything you wanted, it has a lot of things that you will probably miss when you're gone.

For me, I'm from Cornwall, and I get told a lot that it must be wonderful to live there, that it's so beautiful etc etc. However, Cornwall has a lot of flaws. Personally for me, there were no gigs, little shops, there isn't that much of a youth culture of things to do and if you do want to do anything you're gonna have to travel quite a way to do it. Before I could drive this was a massive problem, and involved a lot of public transport/asking parents for lift, but in the last year it's become a lot easier. If I want to go proper shopping, the biggest place is probably Bristol which is so far away I've only done it once, and even then it wasn't for the shopping first (it was actually for a gig hah).

Basically what I'm trying to say is, for a lot of my earlier teenage years I felt like where I lived isolated me from doing a lot of things, and I was extremely lucky to have parents that took me to gigs all over the country and drove me places and all that malarky. However, when I moved away for a large part of a year to live in London, somewhere the near opposite of Cornwall, I definitely started to appreciate it a lot more.

I realised I missed Cornwall so much more than I realised that I would. I missed being able to see the sea from my college, I missed the fresh air and the nice drinking water (bleh London water). I missed the quiet of my bedroom and seeing the countryside everywhere and god damn it I even missed getting angry at clueless drivers in the lanes around my village. I'm not trying to say I didn't enjoy my move, in fact I completely loved my opportunity to go to London and I'm so excited to go back and move in with my friends. I definitely think moving has opened my eyes to how beautiful Cornwall is, and I definitely appreciate it more.

Moral of blog post: Explore and try new things, and you'll probably appreciate what you have a lot more!

These photos were all shot at a local woods on my way to work, a place I'd never really thought about how beautiful it was until recently, so I thought the pictures were quite relevant. Also a shot of me running and attempting to be healthy as an extra bonus!

Thanks for reading my silly ramblings, I hope it made sense to someone.

Mac - Smoked Purple

My gosh please excuse the state of my room in these photos (and my stupid face) but let's all focus on this gorge lip colour that I picked up the other week before I went to Glastonbury. I really really love darker colours, as I think it contrasts nicely with my light hair and works well with my post-emo wardrobe colours (aka black). I also love me some matte lipsticks, so Smoked Purple immediately drew my eye, sitting there in the Mac store.

The only other Mac lipstick I owned previously is Diva, which I love with all my heart and is definitely my current favourite lipstick of life. I found that Diva was long lasting, applied well and was just a dream. Smoked Purple, while being the same finish as Diva, is not quite as wonderful. The application is a bit harder, I find the first couple of strokes you make with it kinda pull on the lips and it's very dry, and the colour takes a few applications, but once it's on, it is so worth it as the colour is so stunning.

mmmm sexy nose close up
Anyway, as you can see there are a lot of different tones in Smoked Purple, there's some blue within the purple and I personally think that it makes it really three dimensional and so gorgeous when you look at it closely. I think it's dark without being too dark, and it doesn't attract too much attention so I think it doesn't even have to be the main focus of your make up, so could be paired with some lovely smokey eyes.
I'd definitely recommend this lippie, it's bold and dramatic but not too outrageous. Perfect for nights out and I loved it for wearing at Glastonbury, as it made my rather normal cateye liner a little more interesting.

White Horses

PHOTOS: LUKE BARRETT

Alright, let's jump back in with some outfit posts, and a return to some normal blogging instead of all my travel frenzy catch up of June. It all seems a bit hectic but really it just seems like I've just lay around like a slug for ages. So attractive xo
Anyway, these photos were taken a few days after my return from Glastonbury, and Luke and I took a trip to a beach on the north coast despite the rather miserable weather. It cleared up a bit by the end, but despite this it was so beautiful, and I'd missed being by the sea so much that I spent a good 30 minutes splashing around in the shallows. Yes, it was awesome.

Some of these photos are quite clearly not that flattering, but I had no make up on and had no intention of taking photos at all on the day but decided I quite liked the outfit and the scenery was just too good to waste.

Jacket - Missguided

Volunteering at Glastonbury 2015 with Oxfam

PHOTOS: SAM DUNNETT & MEGAN WILLIAMS

Eep this is such an exciting post for me as I'm looking back over the photos that my lovely pal Sam took with his fancy camera and they're all so lovely, even if we nearly lost him several times as he stopped to take them! This was my first ever Glastonbury, and as I'm poor and would never have the luck to get actual tickets, we (Me, Molly and Sam) decided to jump on the volunteering wagon, and as you can hopefully tell from the photos, we had an absolutely amazing time.

We arrived on the Tuesday, which meant we had a whole day before the site fully opened to explore it to ourselves, hence why so many of the photos show such brilliantly green grass and no sprawling masses of tents. We also got access to the crew bars which made me feel a bit of a VIP I'm not going to lie. We also had our own specific camping area, that was a bit of a way out, was really nice, with showers and nice(ish) toilets. Also charging ports and free tea and coffee. So good.

Look at how much sun we got on the first few days!!! Unfortunately this didn't last but that is besides the point, it was lovely anyway. Although we worked our three eight hour shifts, and therefore missed a lot of music (including Florence so sad) we did manage to see Kanye, which was obviously amazing. Other highlights for me included Everything Everything, Coasts, Years & Years, Jungle, Pharell and running around past midnight in the late night arenas such as Shangri-La and Block 9.

Jacket: Missguided
Vest: Bitching and Junkfood

It was overall such a fantastic experience and you just meet so many lovely people on shift with such a positive atmosphere everywhere in the Oxfam campsite too. Glastonbury itself is phenomenal, and far and away the best festival I think I've ever attended (soz Reading). I definitely want to go back, wether it be volunteering or not. So, who's up for #Glasto2k16??

Missguided Sale Picks - Summer 2015

Oh man, this Missguided sale is so good I'm really upset that I have no money until next week (curse you monthly pay). Alas, I can still stare dreamily at the beautiful clothes that are out of my reach, and of course, so I can share my picks with everyone else.

Jersey Lace Up Skater Dress (love this girl's whole look)

The whole of the Activewear section was on a massive sale as I write this, so it's definitely worth a look as I've heard a lot about how good it is, and who doesn't love some gym clothes that make you feel amazing? I definitely seem to have gone for a full on summer, floaty feel, which is odd as I'm not really feeling all that summery, probably due to the weather being awful. Curse you British weather.
I'm loving the suede look clothes that are everywhere, the texture is amazing and makes some really interesting contrasts.
Hope you like my picks from the sale, do you have any?
