Volunteering at Latitude Festival 2014

Hello again!
I know it's been a while since I last updated but I have a valid excuse, for the last week I've been away at Latitude Festival in Suffolk, volunteering with Hotbox Events as a steward! This essentially meant I got free entry to the festival (there's a £230 deposit that is returned in October) and in exchange I had to work 3 lots of 8 hour shifts throughout the festival. There are other shifts available, some lucky bums only had two shifts of 6 and a half hours, but I worked Friday 1am-9am, Saturday 9am-5pm and Sunday 5pm-1am.
All in all, it was a pretty good experience, you actually end up working a 9 hour shift as you have to be there an hour early, and sometimes if the people taking over from you are late you can be there even longer. This is especially prominent as the company I was with was horrendously unorganised for the first two days and we had no idea what we were meant to be doing. Personally, as a first time goer to Latitude, I probably wouldn't have gone this year if I had to have bought the ticket myself, but I would happily do so next year, as the atmosphere is perfect and the site is absolutely beautiful. Due to my work shifts though, I felt that I missed out on a lot, and didn't really ever get in to the atmosphere... But I guess that's what I should have expected.

Overall, I'm not sure if I would volunteer again, especially if the line-up was good, HOWEVER, I did have an absolutely fantastic time, and I met some absolutely fantastic people, and saw some brilliant live acts (such as Bombay Bicycle Club, pictured above). If you are looking for a cheap way to get to festivals and you aren't too bothered about missing bands and being exhausted for the whole festival, look no further, as with just the one deposit you can also attend Reading/Leeds festival with the same company, which is very nifty and budget friendly.

The lovely people I met and camped with!
A quick round up of acts/bands I managed to see:
Billy Bragg, Kelis, Crystal Fighters, Lily Allen, First Aid Kit, Bombay Bicycle Club, Milton Jones,  George Ezra, Temples etc.
If you have any questions, I'll try and answer, but that's all for now!

Paignton Zoo Trip

\
Hello agan!
On Tuesday, Luke and I decided to do something with all our free time and we travelled the hour journey to Paignton Zoo in south Devon. The last time I remember going was in possibly 2008, and so I was pretty excited as I didn't know what to expect, although I knew that they did have a young giraffe born just last year!

Meerkats are some of my favourite animals so I couldn't resist snapping a photo of the little baby one!

This tortoise was just wandering around inside the little tropical area, we weren't even sure if he was allowed to be out of the enclosure!
We got really lucky with our day as we managed to see every animal that we went to, and it only rained for about 20 minutes the whole time we were there. The food was also absolutely gorgeous, and we had a breakfast smoothie, which contained frozen yoghurt and granola, which are some of the best edible things to exist. Although I'm not really a massive fan of zoos, Paignton seems to be setting the bar high with enrichment and enclosure sizes, and nearly all of its animals were endangered and in breeding programmes to help maintain the population, which is good. So overall a very, very lovely experience.

Anyway, this is what I wore  on the trip to the zoo, the shirt I recently bought of off Depop, the sandals, bag and the crop top are all from TopShop, the shorts are vintage Levi's, and the necklace I bought from Claire's accessories!

Obligatory photo of me posing badly with a peacock.

Anyway, thanks for reading, I hope you enjoy the photos!

enjoyed today so much, look at all the photos, the first was taken just as I was leaving my boyfriends house, I trusted him with the photo taking, I think he did okay....

and the bottom two were taken this morning while I was revising for my biology exam which was this afternoon!
Last but bot least is this picture of the moon, full moon on the Friday the 13th!!
all photos were taken with my phone, hence the bad quality, but I hope you're all having good days too, and enjoying the sun

A New Love

So I'm sorry recently I haven't been updated much but I'm deep in the depths of revision lately! Today I finished my psychology course for good, but I still have all of my geography and biology exams left to go!
I can't wait to start blogging more consistently in summer, and maybe even set up some YouTube videos too!
Also I apologise for the photo, but this choc milk is the only thing getting me through this stressful time, it's like liquidised cake, the ambrosia of mankind.

Hope all your exams are going well, thanks for reading!!!

Real Techniques Brushes

So the other day I ordered these new brushes from America, as the only ones I really had were some sub-par cheap ones that I got given for Christmas. As I'd recently started investing into my make up collection I thought it was only right that I actually invested into my brush collection also!
Anyway, when I went into Urban Decay's stall in Debenhams the other week the lady working there recommended these brushes called Real Techniques, as a cheaper alternative to what Urban Decay offered (i was so thankful for that, buying a palette was enough for me!) So I popped back up to Boots only to find that the eye basic set was £20, and I'd already more than spent enough money so I returned home without.
Later that day I looked up online how cheap they were to buy, and lo and behold I found them for sale for about £13 from America with shipping! Instantly purchased them, they arrived within about 5 days with no added tax or anything. They feel absolutely amazing to touch, but I have yet to properly use them as it is exam season and I'm way too lazy to actually attempt make up when I have to be up at 7am. When I've tried using them on a look, I will let you know!

Forever 21 Necklace Shop

Hello again! It's Megan here, just with a quick review of some new jewellery I recently acquired from Forever 21.
As I live quite far away from any large city (read as: about 3 hour drive), I wasn't really away of Forever 21's existence until I visited Birmingham for my birthday last year. Therefore I'd never checked them out or knew what kind of fashion they stocked until I visited the store then. However it wasn't until last month that I went to London that I really took an interest into what they had to offer, as I realised they stocked pretty low budget yet fashionable and interesting clothing.
So recently Forever 21 had a 3 for 2 offer on all their jewellery and I've been looking at a load of necklaces lately and these were the three that I chose to buy!
Here's the triangular one with me modelling, check out that nightmare before christmas poster...
Anyway, they necklaces all arrived pretty quickly, and I think it was all below £15 all in all. I'm really happy with all three of them, especially the gold triangular one as it goes with nearly absolutely everything that I've tried it on with.
I would definitely recommend Forever 21 jewellery if you're looking for cheap and easy to wear items!

Giving Blood!

So today’s small adventure as a couple was going to give blood at a local church hall in Charlestown! It was my second time, and Megan’s first, and she was very brave, and everything went perfectly. Except, however, for the walk back home up a big hill, where Megan got a little light headed and starting giggling and rambling about how green the trees were, but after a short lie down she was all good again! Definitely worthwhile doing as we gave half an hour of our time and possibly saved a life somewhere in the future, which is incredible!
