Dublin Zoo

This post is 1000% just a post for me to show off some really cool photos I was able to take on Iszy and I's last day in Dublin, in which we visited the gorgeous zoo that is situated within Phoenix Park. It's a lovely place, and is surprisingly large for an inner city zoo, and the range of animals and the vastness of the habitats was a pleasant surprise for me too. They had a really large African savannah area, and all the other habitats were reasonably large and all the animals seemed quite happy. Although most were dozing in the heat when we were visiting, but anyway, thought I'd share some photos that I also took with my new camera. I'm really quite proud how some of these turned out, especially as I was determined to take all my photos on the manual settings to work on getting better grips on working my camera. I hope you enjoy!

There was also a snow leopard (!!!!!!!) and wolves (!!!!!) but both were asleep and I couldn't get a good enough photo of them which was very sad. I hope you enjoyed my collection of photos!

Guinness Store House - Dublin

Quite a few weeks ago now my good friend Iszy and I jetted off on a superbly cheap trip to Dublin on just a week and a bit notice. Obviously we had an amazing time, so I felt it was round about time I got off my butt and started typing up what we did during our time there. First up, but what we actually did on our 3rd day in the city, was visiting the Guinness store house! It's truly inescapable, you can't go anywhere without it being in your line of sight and signs for Guinness are everywhere. It's one of the largest breweries in the world, smack bang in the middle of Dublin, and it's definitely worth the trip as the visitor centre is quite a spectacle in itself (and you get a Guinness at the end!)

The museum is set across several floors, that takes you through the whole journey of Guinness, right up to all the advertising that Guinness is well known for. Everything is lovingly presented with lots of homages to Arthur Guinness himself and what makes Guinness so special. I'm not even that much of a fan of the drink but I was still drawn in by all the displays and really enjoyed the 2 hours or so it took us to travel through the whole thing. To top it all off you get a lovely well presented Guinness in the top floor of the building, which allows a beautiful near panoramic view of Dublin, which is well worth the trip in itself!

And oh look, here is a pic of me posing with my lovely drink of Guinness at the top of the building I was speaking of. Look at that view! I spent so many photos trying to get the focus on my camera to play game but eventually gave up and settled for this. Apologies for the near creepy smile.
Stay tuned for some more posts from Dublin in the next few days!

Kew Gardens

So, guess who has finished their first year of exams and therefore university?? I am now home which is absolutely ridiculous as it just feels like the other day that I was moving up to London and yet here I am back home again!
Anyway, the purpose of this post, I went to Kew Gardens the other day, despite the adversity of the District Line being shut, my parents and I managed to get there without much disaster that usual ensues while travelling.

The gardens themselves are so huge, I'd never really considered something so big could be so near to the centre of London. All the flowers were mostly in bloom, some bluebells were even in bloom in the conservation area that was modelled after British woodlands. The glasshouses were also phenomenal, the sheer amount of plants inside was ridiculous. The design of the actual buildings is so intricate, and although they look like they need a good painting they are kept in such a good condition. In fact, one was shut for renovation when we were there so maybe they're working their way through the older ones and doing them up a little bit!

Look at this cool staircase though!

Giant redwood, that's only 1/3 of the size the American ones grow to!

Clothes wise, I wanted to be comfortable so I wore this playsuit from ASOS Tall, which is this beautifully stretchy material and has the nicest design ever. The sleeves are flared and so long that in the photo you can't even see my hands, and as someone who has longer arms, this rarely ever happens, so I was quite happy with that! I love love love this playsuit and I can see myself slowly relying on it for a go to piece throughout the summer, it's just fantastic.

Topshop Lips

I bought these lipsticks so long ago I honestly can't believe how long it has taken me to actually write about them. These last two months seem to have absolutely flown by, and even now I'm sat at home desperately trying to find something to write a blog post about when I stumble across these photos that I took, probably back in March! Whoops. I mean, I actually bought these way back in December as I had a discount card from over Christmas, and Hazard was in the sale so I got all 3 of these for about £15, which was a bit of a bargain don't you think?

All three colours are lovely and bright, and of the three I think Infrared is definitely the weakest, as it often needs quite a few applications for the bright coral colour to really take effect on the lips and I've found that it doesn't really last that long, which is a shame as the initial colour is so bright and summery! Hazard is absolutely fantastic, I would definitely recommend this as a go to everyday red as that is exactly what it is to me. It's a joy to wear, I honestly don't have any problems with it. Lastly, and definitely not least, Velveteen Ribbon is a beautiful matte that's easy to apply with the doe foot applicator, and although it almost gets clumpy (?? maybe not the correct word but it's kinda what happens!) and therefore leads to discolourations, overall it's such a well wearing dark red. Ohhh I love it so much, it's so great to add a bit of drama during the day and then not having to worry about it at all! I have so much love for it.

Swatches T-B: Velveteen Ribbon, Infrared, Hazard.

Unfortunately I think Velveteen Ribbon may no longer be stocked, but I did catch it for sale in some bargain bins the last time I looked! The lipsticks are both still in stock though, so go grab yourself a brilliant lipstick and surprise yourself with Topshop Beauty's range!

Blossom

I bought this long shirt quite a while ago, and I cannot tell you how excited I am to finally have the weather to wear this in! This was shot a couple of weeks back when I first came back up to London, and although it was still a bit chilly I still felt super cool floating around in this shirt. Apologies for the lack of details or make up (lol) but this was just a quick walk in Regent's Park and a test run for outfit posts on my camera! I'm really impressed with how well they've turned out, although regrettably it does mean you can see how band my hair was looking ....

Anywho, I hope you like the look and I'm now so close to being done with my exams, hopefully I'll be able to post a lot more regularly soon (famous last words) as I've got some great ideas for summer outfits ready to go! I just need some sun to wear them in!
Also aren't all these trees so gorgeous? I love that something like this can still exist within central London.

Outfit:
Shirt: The Ragged Priest (I think it may be gone now? Bought off ASOS)
Crop: Topshop
Jeans: ASOS Ridley Jeans
Shoes: Nike

MAC - Lightscapades

Before I bough this highlighter, I'd heard quite a lot about it. My friend Sam and I had discussed it and how beautiful it was and how pretty it looked and also how it nearly always seemed to be out of stock for this very reason. So when I went into the MAC store at Covent Garden and tentatively asked if they had it in stock, the shop assistant gave a  very worried look, and said that it was unlikely but she would have a look for me. And look at that, I struck lucky and she came back with a handful that were lurking in the store room! In the pot it looks, to me, a bit like what the surface of a gas planet looks like. There's so many colours in there, from gold, to bronze to a silvery lilac colour, so it looks a bit daunting to first put on. Lightscapade is a mineralize skinfinish highlighter, so it's all shimmery and very light on the skin.

I just use this as a normal highlighter, and blend on on the top of my cheeks, inner corner of the eyes and down my nose etc, but what I really like about this is that it's subtle enough that it just blends really easily and adds an extra dimension to everything. There's no real specific colour, it's almost like a shimmer, when I place my finger to get a denser colour it's almost opalescent with all the colours that are visible! On the skin it comes out with the tiniest hint of palest pink, with lots of subtle sparkles that really just lift and highlight so well without being like you're covered in glitter. Honestly, what more could you want from a highlighter! This also means I think it would suit absolutely everybody, whether you're wearing it quite subtly for the highlight or quite heavily for the glow that it can give!

If sparkles really aren't your style, then I've also heard that Soft & Gentle from the same collection is also a brilliant highlighter for all skin tones too and it's definitely something that I would love to look into when I have more spending money! (sigh)

Where I've Been

Well, it's definitely been a while since I've last sat down to write something. Firstly, I'm pretty bummed I couldn't keep up my consistent blogging, but April was a pretty hectic month for me as there was quite a lot of social things happening as I was back at home and I also then had a 10 day field trip that meant I had no access to a computer at all. Basically I should have thought ahead and gave myself some time to schedule but revision got the best of me there too and I couldn't seem to find myself the time to just sit on a computer and sort out some photos!
However I have some news, in that I got a brand new camera over the holidays so I'm really excited to start using that in blog posts, especially now after I feel more energised about my blog after the short break and I'm super excited for the summer fashion to come in (I've already ordered some clothes from some spare money I had from last term!). I definitely want to try and find more of a niche with what I am doing, and I'm really trying to push myself fashion wise to become more interesting with what I post instead of just repeating outfits and reusing the same clothes (obvs this will happen though as some items I love too much).
Anyway, as I don't really have a proper blog post for this, I just wanted to explain where I was with this blog and that I really want to put more effort in, especially over summer! I'm hoping to do some collabs with other bloggers and I know I keep saying it but I would like to start filming!
So, that's it from me, have a picture of my cat (from my new camera!) so this isn't too text heavy!
Thanks for reading, and please come back for a proper post tomorrow!
